Honda “have an advantage” over Yamaha at Barcelona MotoGP - Alex Rins
Alex Rins believes that Honda has the advantage over Yamaha at the Barcelona MotoGP, citing their superior pace and corner speed.
The Suzuki rider finished fourth in Friday’s practice sessions, but he was less than a tenth of a second behind pacesetter Marc Marquez. Rins believes that Honda’s strong performance is due to their new aerodynamic package, which has given them a significant advantage in corner speed.
“I think Honda have an advantage over us at the moment,” said Rins. “They have a very good pace and they are very fast in the corners. I think their new aerodynamic package is giving them a big advantage.”
Rins also believes that Yamaha needs to improve their qualifying pace if they want to challenge Honda for victory. The Japanese manufacturer has dominated qualifying this season, and Rins believes that Yamaha needs to find a way to close the gap.
“We need to improve our qualifying pace,” said Rins. “We are not fast enough in qualifying and that is costing us in the races. We need to find a way to close the gap to Honda.”
Yamaha rider Maverick Viñales agrees with Rins’ assessment, saying that Honda has a clear advantage at the moment. Viñales finished eighth in Friday’s practice sessions, and he believes that Yamaha needs to make some changes to their bike if they want to challenge Honda for victory.
“Honda has a clear advantage at the moment,” said Viñales. “They are very fast in the corners and they have a very good pace. We need to make some changes to our bike if we want to challenge them.”
The Barcelona MotoGP will take place on Sunday, June 12. Honda will be the favorites to win, but Yamaha will be hoping to close the gap and challenge for victory.
