Golden State Warriors guard De’Anthony Melton is out indefinitely with a left knee injury, the team announced Thursday.
Melton suffered the injury in the Warriors’ 124-111 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night. He left the game in the third quarter and did not return.
The Warriors said Melton will undergo an MRI on Thursday to determine the severity of the injury.
Melton has been a key part of the Warriors’ rotation this season, averaging 10.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. He has started 22 games for the Warriors this season.
With Melton out, the Warriors are likely to start Donte DiVincenzo in his place. DiVincenzo has started 11 games for the Warriors this season and is averaging 10.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.
The Warriors are also expected to give more minutes to Ty Jerome and Moses Moody in Melton’s absence.
The Warriors are currently 29-29 this season and are in seventh place in the Western Conference.
