Virginia Tech Basketball Prepares for 2023-24 Season
Hokies Look to Build on Success of Last Year
Team Returns Experienced Players, Adds Talented Recruits
The Virginia Tech basketball team is preparing for the 2023-24 season with a mix of experienced players and talented recruits. The Hokies are coming off a successful season in which they finished 23-12 overall and 11-9 in the ACC. They advanced to the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament and the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Virginia Tech returns four starters from last year's team, including senior guard Hunter Cattoor, junior guard Darius Maddox, junior forward Justyn Mutts, and sophomore forward Keve Aluma. Cattoor is the Hokies' leading scorer, averaging 15.6 points per game last season. Maddox is a versatile player who can score, rebound, and defend. Mutts is a skilled rebounder and defender, and Aluma is a physical presence in the paint.
The Hokies also added several talented recruits this offseason, including 6-foot-9 forward David N'Guessan, 6-foot-7 forward Rodney Rice, and 6-foot-3 guard MJ Collins. N'Guessan is a skilled scorer and rebounder, Rice is a versatile athlete who can play multiple positions, and Collins is a quick and athletic guard.
With a strong returning core and a talented group of recruits, the Hokies are poised to have another successful season in 2023-24. They have a good mix of experience and youth, and they should be competitive in the ACC and the NCAA Tournament.
