Scotland's Autumn Series Hopes on Brink of Unravelling After Georgia Mauling

Gregor Townsend's side were blown away by the Lelos in Tbilisi

Scotland will need to beat Australia and Argentina at BT Murrayfield to avoid the ignominy of a first-ever Autumn Test defeat at home

Scotland's autumn series will go to the dogs if they fail to blow away toothless Wolves at Murrayfield on Saturday.

Gregor Townsend's side were blown away by a rampant Georgia pack in Tbilisi last weekend, losing 30-16 to the Lelos, who scored three unanswered tries in the second half.

The Scots now face an uphill battle to avoid their first-ever Autumn Test defeat at home, with Australia and Argentina still to come to BT Murrayfield.

Townsend has made four changes to his team for the Wolves clash, with Blair Kinghorn recalled at full-back and Sione Tuipulotu coming into the centres.

Jamie Bhatti and George Turner are the new faces in the pack, with Grant Gilchrist and Jonny Gray dropping out.

Townsend knows that his team need to start fast against the Wolves, who are ranked 15th in the world.

"We know that we need to be better than we were last week," said Townsend.

"We need to be more physical, more accurate and more clinical.

"We have a lot of experience in this team and we know what it takes to win at Murrayfield.

"We need to go out there and show that we are still a good team.

The Wolves are without a number of key players for the match, including captain Vasili Artemyev and scrum-half Vasily Dorofeev.

However, they will still be a tough test for Scotland, who have lost their last two matches against them.

Scotland will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat, which would be their worst run of results since 2015.

They will also be looking to bounce back from their disappointing performance in Georgia, where they were outplayed by the Lelos in all areas of the game.

Townsend has called on his team to show more character and resilience against the Wolves.

"We need to show that we are a team that can fight back from adversity," said Townsend.

"We need to show that we are a team that is not afraid to take risks.

"We need to show that we are a team that is determined to win.

If Scotland can beat the Wolves, they will still have a chance of salvaging their autumn series.

However, they will need to produce a much-improved performance than they did in Georgia.
