Telstar appoint Rick Sturm as new head coach
Rick Sturm has been appointed as the new head coach of Dutch second-tier side Telstar, the club announced on Monday.
The 58-year-old Dutchman has signed a one-year contract with the club, with the option of a further year.
Sturm has previously managed a number of clubs in the Netherlands, including FC Volendam, FC Dordrecht and NEC Nijmegen.
Sturm replaces Andries Jonker at Telstar
Sturm replaces Andries Jonker, who left Telstar at the end of the season after failing to guide the club to promotion to the Eredivisie.
Telstar finished 10th in the Eerste Divisie last season, 10 points adrift of the promotion play-off places.
Sturm will be tasked with leading Telstar back to the Eredivisie for the first time since 2013.
Sturm eager to get started at Telstar
Sturm said he was excited to take on the challenge of managing Telstar.
"I am very happy to be here," Sturm said.
"Telstar is a club with a lot of potential and I am confident that we can achieve great things together."
Sturm's first match in charge of Telstar will be a friendly against FC Volendam on July 12.
Telstar will then begin their Eerste Divisie campaign on August 12, away to Jong AZ.
