'People Will Come' – Spurs Star Understands Importance Of Nations League Clash
England kick-off their Nations League campaign at Molineux on Saturday against Hungary
Tottenham star Eric Dier is well aware of the importance of the Nations League and is confident that England can get off to a winning start against Hungary on Saturday.
The Three Lions missed out on the chance to win their first major trophy in 56 years when they lost the Euro 2020 final to Italy on penalties last summer. Gareth Southgate's side will be looking to make amends in the Nations League, which offers a second chance to win silverware.
Dier is one of several Tottenham players in the England squad and he knows the importance of starting the campaign with a win, "The games are coming thick and fast now and they're all important. We're in a good position in the Nations League and we want to keep that going. We've got a good squad and we're confident that we can get off to a winning start against Hungary."
Dier is also confident that England can win the Nations League
Dier believes that England have the quality to win the Nations League. "We've got a good squad and we're confident that we can win it. We know it won't be easy but we're up for the challenge," he said.
England have been drawn in Group 3 of the Nations League alongside Hungary, Italy and Germany. The Three Lions will be looking to top the group and reach the semi-finals, which will be played in June 2023.
The Nations League is a new competition that was launched by UEFA in 2018. It is designed to replace international friendlies and provide more competitive matches for national teams.
The tournament is played in a league format, with teams divided into four divisions. The top four teams in Division A will qualify for the semi-finals, while the bottom four teams will be relegated to Division B.
England are one of the favorites to win the Nations League and Dier is confident that they can go all the way, "We're in a good position and we're confident that we can win it. We know it won't be easy but we're up for the challenge."
