Otar Kiteleishvili: «We need to show our best game»
Our interview with the Georgian boss as he discusses the last international break and the preparations for the upcoming Nations League
Georgia boss Otar Kiteleishvili has stated that his team "need to show their best game" when they face Gibraltar in the UEFA Nations League on Friday.
The Lelos have not played since June, when they suffered a 1-0 defeat to North Macedonia in their opening match of the Nations League campaign.
However, Kiteleishvili is confident that his team can bounce back from that setback and get their campaign back on track.
“We have prepared well for this game,” he said. “We know that Gibraltar are a good team, but we are confident that we can beat them.”
Kiteleishvili also revealed that he is likely to make some changes to his team from the one that lost to North Macedonia.
“We have a few injuries,” he said. “But I am confident that the players who come in will be able to do a good job.”
Georgia will be without the suspended Giorgi Chakvetadze and the injured Saba Lobjanidze for the match against Gibraltar.
However, Kiteleishvili is confident that his team has enough quality to cope with their absence.
“We have a good squad,” he said. “We have a lot of young players who are hungry to prove themselves.”
Kiteleishvili is also hoping that the home crowd will give his team a boost on Friday.
“We are playing at home, so we will have the support of our fans,” he said. “That will give us a big advantage.”
