MotoGP, First 2025 Tests Confirmed for Tuesday at Barcelona
Five factories to participate in the initial test
The opening test of the 2025 MotoGP season gets underway at Barcelona on Tuesday, with all five factories set to participate.
Aprilia, Ducati, Honda, KTM, and Yamaha will all be present at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya for the two-day test, which will see the riders get their first taste of the new-for-2025 machines.
It will be the first time the new bikes have been seen on track since they were unveiled at the EICMA show in Milan last November.
Several riders to make debuts
Several riders will be making their MotoGP debuts at the test, including Augusto Fernandez (GASGAS), Alex Marquez (Ducati), and Miguel Oliveira (Aprilia). With Pol Espargaro making way for Fernandez at Tech3 GASGAS, he'll get his first chance to impress on the RC16 having made the switch from the Honda team.
There will also be a number of new faces in the pit boxes, with several teams having made changes to their technical staff over the winter.
Ducati has recruited former Suzuki boss Davide Brivio as its new Racing Director, while Yamaha has brought in ex-Aprilia engineer Massimo Meregalli as its new Team Director.
Lorenzo, Pedrosa to ride for KTM
Two-time MotoGP World Champion Jorge Lorenzo and 2010 runner-up Dani Pedrosa will also be in action at the test, as they continue their development work with KTM.
Lorenzo, who retired from MotoGP at the end of the 2019 season, has been working with KTM as a test rider since 2021. Pedrosa, meanwhile, joined KTM as a test rider in 2023 after retiring from MotoGP at the end of the 2018 season.
