Market Drayton Christmas Tree to go up next week as town prepares for popular Festival of Lights
The countdown to Christmas is well and truly on in Market Drayton as the town prepares to host its annual Festival of Lights.
The festive extravaganza, which attracts thousands of visitors to the town each year, will take place on Saturday, December 3. And in the run-up to the big day, the town's Christmas tree will be erected in the Market Square next week.
The tree, which is donated by local firm Greenfingers Garden Centre, will be put up on Monday, November 21. Once in place, it will be decorated with thousands of twinkling lights and baubles, ready for the Festival of Lights switch-on ceremony.
The Festival of Lights is a magical event that sees the town centre transformed into a winter wonderland.
The festivities will begin at 3pm with a lantern parade from the town's youth centre to the Market Square. The parade will be followed by the switch-on of the Christmas lights and a spectacular fireworks display.
There will also be a Christmas market, live music, entertainment and food and drink stalls in the Market Square throughout the evening.
The Festival of Lights is a popular event for all the family and is a great way to get into the festive spirit.
So make sure you come along and enjoy the magic of Christmas in Market Drayton.
