How Train Your Dragon Live-Action Movie Gets Dialed-Up Stakes
Director Dean DeBlois Offers New Details About Movie's Scope and Changes
Upcoming 'How to Train Your Dragon' live-action movie has some twists and interesting plot for live-action version.
The upcoming live-action adaptation of "How to Train Your Dragon" will feature a more "dialed-up" story with higher stakes, according to director Dean DeBlois.
In an interview with Collider, DeBlois said that the live-action movie will be "a different beast" from the animated films, but that it will still be faithful to the source material.
"We're not trying to remake the animated films," DeBlois said. "We're trying to make a new film that stands on its own two feet, but that also honors the legacy of the original films."
One of the biggest changes in the live-action movie will be the setting. The animated films were set in a mythical world, but the live-action movie will be set in the real world.
"We wanted to bring the story of 'How to Train Your Dragon' to a new audience," DeBlois said. "And we thought that the best way to do that was to set it in the real world."
The live-action movie will also feature a more diverse cast of characters. The animated films featured a predominantly white cast, but the live-action movie will feature a more diverse group of actors.
"We wanted to make sure that the live-action movie reflected the diversity of the world we live in," DeBlois said.
The live-action "How to Train Your Dragon" movie is scheduled to be released in 2025.
