Horse Racing: Timeform on Uttoxeter Action
Nicky Henderson's Challow Hurdle Winner Constitution Hill Cruises to Victory at Uttoxeter
Nicky Henderson's Constitution Hill, the impressive winner of the Challow Hurdle at Newbury in December, made a successful return to action with a dominant display in the Uttoxeter Novices' Hurdle on Saturday.
The six-year-old gelding, ridden by Nico de Boinville, travelled smoothly throughout the two-mile contest and quickened clear of his rivals approaching the final flight.
Constitution Hill eventually crossed the line 15 lengths clear of the runner-up, Soaring Glory, in a time of 3 minutes 46.1 seconds.
Henderson Praises Constitution Hill's "Exceptional" Performance
Henderson was delighted with Constitution Hill's performance, describing it as "exceptional".
"He's a very good horse," said Henderson. "He did everything right today. He jumped well, travelled well and quickened up well.
"I'm very pleased with him. He's a horse with a big future."
Timeform: Constitution Hill is a "Genuine Superstar"
Timeform's David Dickinson was equally impressed with Constitution Hill's display, describing him as a "genuine superstar".
"He's one of the most exciting horses I've seen for a long time," said Dickinson.
"He has everything you want in a top-class hurdler. He's got pace, stamina, jumping ability and a great attitude."
Constitution Hill Now the Favourite for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle
Constitution Hill is now the clear favourite for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March.
The race is one of the most prestigious events in the National Hunt calendar, and Constitution Hill will be looking to emulate the likes of Altior, Douvan and Shishkin, who have all won the race in recent years.
If Constitution Hill can maintain his current form, he will be a very tough horse to beat at Cheltenham.
