Gary Oldman to read special Children In Need CBeebies Bedtime Story
CBBC has announced that Oscar-winning actor Gary Oldman will be reading a special CBeebies Bedtime Story.
Oldman will read The Firework-Maker's Daughter by Philip Pullman, first broadcast on Monday 14 November at 6.50pm.
The story follows Lila, a young girl who dreams of becoming a firework-maker like her father. She is determined to create the most spectacular firework ever seen.
Oldman is best known for his roles in films such as Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Batman Begins and Darkest Hour, for which he won an Oscar.
He said: "I'm so excited to be reading a CBeebies Bedtime Story. I have always loved reading to my children and I know how important it is to encourage children to read and use their imaginations."
CBeebies Bedtime Stories is a nightly series of stories read by famous faces. It has been running since 2002 and has featured a range of celebrities, including Tom Hardy, Eddie Redmayne and Benedict Cumberbatch.
The Children In Need appeal will take place on Friday 18 November. The money raised will help to support children and young people across the UK.
