Exclusive: Strictly confirms third celebrity in Christmas special cast

Pop star and West End legend Sheridan Smith has been confirmed as the third celebrity in the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special cast.

Smith, 41, will join previously announced contestants Alexandra Burke and Nicola Adams in the festive programme, which will air on BBC One on Christmas Day.

A source close to the show said: "Sheridan is a huge Strictly fan and she's so excited to be taking part in the Christmas special. She's a talented performer and she's sure to bring some festive cheer to the dancefloor."

Smith is best known for her roles in TV shows such as Gavin & Stacey, Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, and Cilla. She has also starred in West End musicals including Legally Blonde, Funny Girl, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

The Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special will see the three celebrities compete against each other in a festive-themed dance-off. The show will be judged by Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke.
