Goals from Evan Ferguson and Bryan Gil had both sides level after 26 minutes in Murcia as England’s Under-21s extended their unbeaten run to nine games against Spain.

England Under-21s extended their unbeaten run against Spain to nine matches with a 1-1 draw in Murcia on Tuesday night.

The Young Lions took the lead through Brighton striker Evan Ferguson after just 16 minutes, but Bryan Gil equalised for the hosts 10 minutes later.

Seven players in the England team are set to make their senior debuts in the upcoming friendlies against Switzerland and Ivory Coast, with head coach Lee Carsley set to return after illness.

Liverpool defender Conor Bradley, Manchester City midfielder James McAtee and Aston Villa goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale are among those in line to make their first appearances for the Three Lions.

England’s next match is against Switzerland in Lugano on Thursday, before they face Ivory Coast in Middlesbrough on Tuesday, March 29.

They will then begin their qualification campaign for the 2025 European Under-21 Championship in September.
