Dutch Grand Prix: Verstappen wins at home

Verstappen takes victory at the Dutch Grand Prix

Max Verstappen has won the Dutch Grand Prix, ahead of George Russell and Lewis Hamilton, in front of a crowd of over 100,000 fans.

The race started in wet conditions, but the track quickly dried out, and Verstappen was able to take an early lead.

He controlled the race from there, and eventually won by over 10 seconds.

Russell and Hamilton finish second and third

George Russell finished second, ahead of Lewis Hamilton, in the other Mercedes car.

It was a strong result for Russell, who has now finished on the podium in three of the last four races.

Hamilton, meanwhile, was disappointed with his third-place finish, but he admitted that Verstappen was simply too strong on the day.

Verstappen extends championship lead

Verstappen's victory extends his lead in the championship standings to 35 points over Hamilton.

With just six races remaining, Verstappen is now the clear favorite to win his second world championship.

Other notable results

Fernando Alonso finished fourth for Alpine, ahead of Sergio Perez in the other Red Bull car.

Lando Norris was sixth for McLaren, ahead of Esteban Ocon in the other Alpine car.

Williams driver Alex Albon finished eighth, ahead of Sebastian Vettel in the Aston Martin car.

Mick Schumacher finished tenth for Haas, rounding out the points-paying positions.
