College Football Playoff Set for New Year's Eve

No. 1 Georgia and No. 4 Ohio State to Face Off in Peach Bowl

The College Football Playoff has set the stage for an epic New Year's Eve matchup between the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs and the No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes in the Peach Bowl.

Third Time's the Charm for Georgia

Georgia, the defending national champions, earned their third consecutive College Football Playoff berth with a dominant 13-0 regular season. The Bulldogs boast a high-powered offense led by quarterback Stetson Bennett IV and running back Kenny McIntosh, and a stifling defense that has allowed just 10.3 points per game this season.

Ohio State, meanwhile, punched their ticket to the playoff with an impressive 11-1 regular season, their only loss coming to No. 2 Michigan in the regular season finale. The Buckeyes are led by Heisman Trophy candidate C.J. Stroud, one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the country, and a talented receiving corps featuring Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka.

Rivalry Renewed

The Peach Bowl will mark the third meeting between Georgia and Ohio State in the past six seasons. The Bulldogs won the first matchup in the 2017 College Football Playoff semifinal, while the Buckeyes got their revenge in the 2021 CFP semifinal.

Additional Playoff Matchups

In addition to the Peach Bowl, the College Football Playoff semifinals will also feature the No. 2 Michigan Wolverines taking on the No. 3 TCU Horned Frogs in the Fiesta Bowl. The winners of the Peach Bowl and Fiesta Bowl will advance to the National Championship Game on January 9, 2023.
