Calculator reveals whether you could claim benefit worth up to £9,584 as hundreds of thousands could be missing out
Benefit calculator predicts how much you could get
Millions of people across the UK are missing out on claiming Pension Credit, a benefit that could give them access to extra money to help with the cost of living.
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) estimates that around 850,000 pensioners are eligible for Pension Credit but are not claiming it, meaning they could be missing out on an average of £3,300 a year.
The benefit is available to people who have reached State Pension age and have a low income, and can be claimed by single people or couples.
How much Pension Credit could you get?
The amount of Pension Credit you receive depends on your circumstances, such as your age, income and savings.
You could get up to £9,584 if you:
- Are single and over 75
- Live with your partner, both of you are over 75, and neither of you get Carer's Allowance or Attendance Allowance
The amount you receive will be less if you have any income or savings over a certain amount.
Pension Credit and cost of living
If you are struggling to make ends meet, Pension Credit could help you with the cost of living.
The benefit can be used to pay for a range of living costs, such as food, energy bills, and housing costs.
Pension Credit can also help you to access other benefits, such as free TV licence, Council Tax reduction, and a Warm Home Discount.
