Brad Pitt Sues Angelina Jolie Over Sale of French Vineyard
Hollywood's former golden couple is back in court
Pitt claims the sale violated their agreement not to sell their stakes in their jointly-owned winery, Chateau Miraval, without the other's consent.
Brad Pitt has filed a lawsuit against Angelina Jolie alleging she violated their agreement not to sell their stakes in their jointly-owned French vineyard, Chateau Miraval, without the other's consent.
The lawsuit, filed on September 6, 2022, in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleges that Jolie sold her 50% stake in the winery to a Russian oligarch without Pitt's knowledge or consent.
Pitt and Jolie purchased Chateau Miraval in 2008 for $28.3 million. The couple married at the estate in 2014. They separated in 2016 and their divorce was finalized in 2019.
According to the lawsuit, Pitt and Jolie had agreed that neither of them would sell their stakes in Chateau Miraval without the other's consent. However, Jolie sold her stake to Tenute del Mondo, a company owned by Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler, in October 2021.
Pitt alleges that Jolie's sale of her stake in Chateau Miraval violated their agreement and that Shefler is not a suitable business partner for him.
The lawsuit seeks to have the sale of Jolie's stake in Chateau Miraval declared void and to prevent Shefler from acquiring any further ownership interest in the winery.
The lawsuit is the latest in a series of legal battles between Pitt and Jolie. The couple has been embroiled in a custody dispute over their six children since their separation.
