Arantxa Rus was the star of the show as the Netherlands reached the semi-finals of the Billie Jean King Cup with a 3-1 victory over Slovenia.

The Dutch No. 1 won both of her singles matches in straight sets, beating Tamara Zidanšek 6-1, 6-2 in the opening rubber and then seeing off Kaja Juvan 6-2, 7-5 in the reverse singles.

Elise Tamaëla won the other point for the Netherlands, beating Juvan 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 in a marathon match that lasted three hours and 20 minutes.

The Netherlands will now face the Russian Tennis Federation in the semi-finals, with the match to be played on Saturday.
