Bagnaia makes a bold statement as Martin clinches P5 on Friday
Francesco Bagnaia was the fastest rider on track at the end of Friday practice at the Algarve International Circuit, ahead of title rival Fabio Quartararo.
The Italian set a best lap of 1:39.417s on his Ducati, 0.258s clear of Quartararo's Yamaha. Aleix Espargaro was third fastest on the Aprilia, 0.377s off the pace.
Jorge Martin was the top Honda rider in fifth place, 0.507s off Bagnaia's time. The Spaniard crashed at Turn 11 late in FP2 but was able to walk away unscathed.
Marc Marquez was seventh fastest on the other Honda, 0.609s off the pace. The six-time world champion has been suffering from a sore right arm this weekend but was able to complete both practice sessions without any major issues.
Pol Espargaro was eighth fastest on the KTM, 0.704s off the pace. The Spaniard had a busy day, crashing twice in FP1 and once in FP2. He was able to walk away from all three crashes unscathed.
Luca Marini was ninth fastest on the Ducati, 0.788s off the pace. The Italian crashed at Turn 11 in FP2 but was able to walk away unscathed.
Alex Rins was tenth fastest on the Suzuki, 0.830s off the pace. The Spaniard had a quiet day, completing both practice sessions without any major issues.
